Y'know what cracked me up? SF Weekly has a link on their front page labelled "Insulted Yet? - Which is more intellectually insulting: the Bay Guardian's absurd conspiracy-mongering, or its cant-filled writing? An illustrated answer." And it links to a PDF file that's apparently a new SF Weekly ad, poking fun at the Guardian's unreconstructed collectivism.

http://www.sfweekly.com/art/media/2005-07-20/1.pdf

After all, the Weekly does sometimes publish intelligent articles, which the Guardian does not. There was a decent series a few years back in which they argued, in essence, that the way to solve SF's housing problems was to build more housing. As you can imagine, they took a lot of flack for that.

So, a day later, I was walking out of a store and as I passed the stacks of alternative papers, out of the corner of my eye I saw the headline "Craig$list...." I rembered the Weekly's ad, and thought to myself, "Gee the Guardian has really gone over the top now, they're even attacking Craig's List."

Then I realized that it was the Weekly's own headline.

Meanwhile, I've returned to SF after a couple of years away, and I'm looking for work. So I'd like to apologize in advance to the person who's going to lose his or her job when I get one.
